Accidents happen, especially with active kids. Whether it’s a fall, a sports injury, or an unexpected bump, dental trauma in children should always be taken seriously. At East Atlanta Endodontics, we provide expert care for injured young teeth, including those that are still developing.

Common Types of Tooth Injuries in Children

Children’s teeth may be chipped, cracked, displaced, or completely knocked out. Some common injuries include:

  • A tooth pushed into or out of position

  • A broken or cracked tooth

  • A knocked-out (avulsed) permanent tooth

  • Damage to an immature tooth that’s still developing

What Parents Should Do

If your child experiences dental trauma:

  • Stay calm and locate the tooth or tooth fragment

  • If the tooth is knocked out, keep it moist (in milk or saline) and avoid touching the root

  • Seek immediate care, even if there’s no pain, internal damage may exist

How We Help

Our practice is trained in treating traumatic dental injuries, especially in young patients. For immature teeth, we may recommend procedures like apexogenesis or apexification to encourage proper development and healing. Early intervention can often save the tooth and support normal growth.

If your child has suffered a dental injury, don’t wait. Prompt evaluation gives them the best chance of keeping their natural smile.
