Frequently Asked Questions

What is an endodontist?

Is a root canal painful?

How do I know if I need a root canal?

An endodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on diagnosing and treating issues inside the tooth, particularly the pulp and root canals. They complete additional years of advanced training beyond dental school and specialize in procedures like root canals, retreatments, and endodontic surgery.

Not anymore! With modern techniques and anesthesia, root canal treatment is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a routine filling. Most patients report immediate relief from pain after the procedure.

Common signs include persistent tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling, or tenderness in the gums. However, some teeth show no symptoms and are only diagnosed with X-rays. A proper evaluation by your dentist or endodontist is the best way to know.

How long does a root canal take?

Most root canals can be completed in a single visit, typically lasting between 60–90 minutes. Some cases may require a second visit, especially if the tooth is severely infected or has complex root structures.

What is the GentleWave® Procedure?

GentleWave® is an advanced root canal technology that uses sound waves and fluid dynamics to thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire root canal system. It’s more efficient, more comfortable, and offers better long-term results than traditional methods. We are proud to be an official GentleWave® Authorized Practice.

What happens after my root canal?

After the procedure, you may feel mild soreness for a few days. You’ll return to your general dentist to place a permanent restoration, like a crown, to fully protect the tooth. Proper care will help your treated tooth last many years—often for life.

Do you accept referrals from general dentists?

Yes! We work closely with referring doctors to ensure their patients receive excellent care. If you’re a dental professional looking to refer a patient, visit our Referring Doctors page to join our referral network.
